Sushi Masuda, a famous Edomae Sushi restaurant located at the end of an alley in Omotesando

The owner of Sushi Masuda, Mr. Yuki Masuda, has been expanding his activities, including producing sushi restaurants
for hotels in Japan and abroad, but closed the restaurant temporarily in 2019 and reopened it in the same Omotesando
location this January after a three-year recharging period.
Here we introduce the charm of Sushi Masuda.

The interior of the restaurant is a tranquil space with a refreshing counter made of a single piece of cypress wood.
In a dignified atmosphere, the restaurant offers a variety of elaborate sake snacks and Edomae-style sushi that
showcases traditional workmanship.
Among them, the kohada (yellowfin tuna), for which the degree of vineginess is adjusted daily, and the natural tuna
from the charismatic intermediate wholesaler Yamayuki, are the gems that Mr. Masuda is so keenly interested in.

The restaurant is popular among young couples for its modern chic atmosphere created by the magnificent one-piece
cypress counter, the poly polychrome walls, and the marble flooring. The counter seats only eight.
The spacious setup is perfect for enjoying sushi in a relaxed atmosphere.
In addition to the main counter seating, there is a private room in the back of the restaurant with an L-shaped
counter, which may be useful for intimate anniversary gatherings or meetings.
In the private room counter, the second chef who was in charge of the Taipei restaurant is making sushi.

Review by Sushi Masuda

  • I thought that the level of all the dishes was high, and the whole meal was deeply satisfying, yet
    highly complete.
  • The nigiri is beautiful, moist, bewitching, and fragrant with color! My eating habits originated with
    Masuda’s.
  • Nigiri is all about the sushi rice! Sushi is fun because even minor changes can change the look of the
    sushi.

Summary

How was it?
I introduced Sushi Masuda here.
Sushi Masuda has no signboard, and a white curtain with the name “Sushi Masuda" written on it can only be seen
behind the door.
It is a restaurant that attracts people’s attention because of its hideout-like appearance.
